What’s it like as a place to live? High Wycombe has everything you need to live here; shops, bars, parks….everything!
How’s the student accommodation? Halls of residence is good value and lots of fun but when you go private you need to shop around as it can be expensive.
What’s the student population like? Everyone seems to know everyone else and there are people from all over the country and a few international too.
How do students and locals get on? Students and locals are completely different but we get on, and of course there are no go areas, every town has them!
What’s it like as a place to study? Bucks tends to specialise in some courses but it’s not good at everything.
What are the teaching staff like? Lecturers are helpful and professional, a lot have worked in the industry they lecture in which is a bonus.
What are student societies like? With the Big Deal, sports and recreational activities are free which means more and more are getting involved.
What’s a typical night out? Local pub → SU bar → kebab.
And how much does it cost? Around £20
How can you get home safely? Union runs a free night bus and there are plenty of cabs.
Is it an expensive place to live? Loan does last but a part-time job eases the pain!
Average price of a pint? £2
And the price of a takeaway? £3
What’s the part-time work situation? I got my part-time job through the recruitment fair which the uni told me about.
What’s the best feature about the place? Bucks has a close-knit student community.
And the worst? The town needs some better clubs.
And to sum it all up? Bucks has given me loads of friends, lots of fun and plenty of memories. I’ll miss it when I leave.
Contact SU president on tel 01494 446330, email President@bucks.ac.uk, or check out the website www.bucksstudent.com.
