Site:3 main sites: City site, close to centre of Nottingham; Clifton campus, about 4 miles from city centre; Brackenhurst campus, 14 miles from city centre. 
How to get there:Close to M1 and East Midlands Airport; by rail and coach (City site near rail and coach stations); bus services from city centre to Clifton campus.  

Student services & facilities

Student advice & services:Integrated student services (including finance, wellbeing and disability services) at drop-in centres on all campuses. Health centres at City and Clifton sites.  
Amenities:Shops, bars, bookshops, banks, travel bureau, CCTV.  
Sporting facilities:Clifton campus: 2 large sports halls, artificial-turf pitch, glass-backed squash courts, grass pitches, dance studio, fitness suite and support facilities (eg physiotherapy clinic, nutrition training centre, sport science laboratory). City site: temperature-controlled fitness suite, dance studio, lifestyle evaluation room and physiotherapy and sports massage room.
Accommodation:First-year students guaranteed university-allocated accommodation if they apply by the deadline (31 July). Self-catering places, rents from £70–£132 per week (£100–£103 pw ensuite), £70–£85 pw for shared room. Private rented accommodation from £55−£100 pw (plus bills). 

Study opportunities & careers

Library & information services:Main library on each site; 478,000 volumes in total, 14,000 journals (many electronic). 900 study places in Boots Library on main campus, 500 at Clifton, 70 at Brackenhurst (choice of study preferences from silent to group work). Information provision, £88 pa spent for each student (FTE). Integrated first-line support service for students using library, IT and e-learning facilities, including online chat. Ratio 1:15 workstations to students; 1200 computers with access to library (700 in libraries), all with internet access. Most IT facilities open 12 hours/day (some 24/7 on main sites); dedicated support team patrol library and help at point of use. Comprehensive introductory sessions for all students, including self-directed i-pod tours. Full information skills programme for all students.
Other learning resources:Modern, open-access language laboratories; science and engineering laboratories. 
Study abroad:Some choose to work or study abroad as part of their degree courses.

Money

Living expenses budget:Minimum budget of £650−£700 per month (excluding tuition fees) recommended by university. 
Term-time work:University and students’ union help students find part-time work in term time and in vacations; also help finding work experience and internships.
Financial help:Scholarships of £3000 pa fee reduction, for 568 English residents on the lowest family incomes; £1400 pa fee reduction for all other UK students whose family income is up to £30k pa. Also discretionary hardship fund to help those not able to work in the holidays. Further information and advice available from student support services.
University tuition fees:Home students pay £8500 pa for first degree courses (£6500 for foundation degrees). International students pay £10,600 (classroom), £11,300 pa (lab/studio-based).

Student view

Living

Based in the centre of a lively cosmopolitan city, it offers a spectacular range of activities and venues that aid studying and socialising. University is spread over three campuses: largest being in the heart of the city; another on the outskirts, in Clifton; and the smallest is Brackenhurst, in the picturesque town of Southwell. Each campus has a students' union with shops, bars and restaurants as well as services such as employment store, ticket express, training and development schemes, volunteering opportunities and also confidential student advice centres. SU also offers over 42 sports clubs, 26 societies, Platform the bi-weekly student magazine, Fly FM, and Trent TV.

Summary

Housing: All first years live in halls (many rooms ensuite). Others have the option to stay in halls but many prefer private accommodation; union offers advice and uni accommodation service has list of accredited properties. Eats: Plenty of reasonably priced food on-campus. Huge range of restaurants and cafés in city offering wide choice. Drinks: Nottingham is infamous for its 400+ pubs, bars and clubs!! Prices vary dramatically, depending on venue, so sure to be one in your price range. SU and many other bars have minimum price of £1.50, as part of responsible drinking scheme. Nightlife: This is where Nottingham excels! Official SU nights including: Kiss Kiss at Ocean on Tuesdays, Campus (sports and society night) on Wednesday; DV8 at Walkabout (Thursday), Flirt and Climax at SU (Friday and Saturday); also Kinki fancy dress at Ocean once a month. There is always somewhere to go!! Sports: 42+ SU sports clubs, gym on campus, sports teams (semi-pro to general kick-a-rounds), so something for everyone. City has two league football teams (Forest & County), National Ice Centre, National Water Sports Centre and world-famous Trent Bridge Cricket Ground! Travel: Traveling round city is very easy. SU offers ticket express service for national travel. Easy reach of Nottingham East Midlands Airport. Jobs: SU employment store offers range of part-time and holiday jobs. Best features: Fantastic atmosphere in university and city that promotes studying as well as enjoyment. Worst feature: You'll be spoilt for choice!!
