Living
What's it like as a place to live? Quality place, good community, good people. Fair discipline when needed.
How's the student accommodation? Fairly new, in good working order, well built. No private accommodation but can get in Preston.
What's the student population like? People from all over the country come. It's great. Most people get along brilliant. Everyone's always up for a laugh and having fun.
How do students and locals get on? Our college is fairly out of the way but locals come to the college to join in with the open days and no complaints really.
Studying
What's it like as a place to study? The facilities are endless; the college specialises in subjects such as golf and have a 9-hole course, which is also open to the public.
What are the teaching staff like? Staff get on very well with students, make sure assignments are on time and done correctly and up to standard.
Socialising
What are student societies like? Gym, pub, sporting activities; at night, quizzes, DJs, bands. There are good ranges of things to do at night.
What's a typical night out? Stumble Nights, Preston.
And how much does it cost? Stumble (50p on Tues); Preston varies on where you go.
How can you get home safely? College mainly uses Millers taxis and the taxis give discounts for students.
Money
Is it an expensive place to live? All different prices. Reasonable price includes food (optional), cleaning, good facilities.
Average price of a pint? On site (Stumble) £1.90; Preston £2.50.
And the price of a takeaway? Preston: doner meat £2 a box, chips £1.50.
What's the part-time work situation? Jobs on campus, about £5 an hour. Cleaning, in the canteen, behind bar on campus.
Summary
What's the best feature about the place? People, friendly atmosphere, all ranges of people, friendly staff, always willing to help. Myerscough is the place to be.
And the worst? You can only be here 36 weeks a year.
And to sum it all up? Hmmmm - Been at college now for two years and planning to stay at least two more!!
