What's it like as a place to live? Village-like, pleasant.
How's the student accommodation? University accommodation has a wide variety of choices, from very expensive (£3500+ a year) to your average student housing (£2700 a year). Private housing is off campus and abundant. Prices also vary but are all affordable and the letting agencies are fairly easy with payment and repairs.
What's the student population like? About 18,000 students on and off campus. Mostly Southern-English people. A lot of Chinese people. Very few African or mixed race students.
How do students and locals get on? Student and locals do not really mix. Apart from the local market, students and locals don't get together at all.
What's it like as a place to study? The university offers a wide range of courses, and is known for its high standard in engineering and design. Loughborough is the UK number 1 in sports science and their sports facilities are of the best standard. The way courses are taught is quite modern with online lecture slides and good communication with the departments.
What are the teaching staff like? A wide variety of nationalities and a sign of interest in the students. Very good feedback and communication with the students.
What are student societies like? Amazing, every possible society is available, and if you want to start your own, this is quite easy to make possible. The Student Union is very accessible to all students and is run by the students.
What's a typical night out? To the Student Union.
And how much does it cost? £15.
How can you get home safely? Taxi, or walking in a group.
Is it an expensive place to live? No, not expensive at all. The student loan should last the term if you live cleverly.
Average price of a pint? £2.20.
And the price of a takeaway? £7.
What's the part-time work situation? Part-time waitering jobs at the union or in town. The university helps you find jobs if you want them, but it's not overly advertised.
What's the best feature about the place? Sports.
And the worst? No culture.
And to sum it all up? Great for student life, but wouldn't want to live here after.
