Some teachers and careers advisers think top universities have a secret blacklist of unwelcome A-level subjects. So far as the Russsell Group of elite universities is concerned, this is nonsense. Wendy Piatt, director general of the Russell Group says no Russell Group university bars any A-level subject. University websites typically include details on 'essential' and 'preferred' A-levels to help students maximise their chances of getting onto competitive courses. Most provide clear information on required A-level subjects and ones which will not be considered when making admissions decisions.
